Dear North Carolina Outward Bound

I would like to thank you on giving me this opportunity to join you this summer. North Carolina Outward Bound is a once in a lifetime thing for me. Doing Outward Bound was an amazing experience in my life. Outward Bound has made me become a stronger person in life. I realize that when you want to try new things in life you should just go ahead and try it. At first, I was scared of leaving for two weeks without taking a shower, meeting new people, and getting on an airplane by myself. Once I got to meet new people and see how fun it was, I was not scared at all. I had the best time of my life when I went to North Carolina. I got to do things that I never even imagined myself doing. I also got to meet new people and see new things that I have never seen in my life.

When I went to Outward bound, it was my first time rock climbing, back packing, and a walking rope course. It was scary at first but then it was fun. I will never forget the things I did when I was at North Carolina Outward Bound. Outward Bound has made me realize things that I did not even know about myself. For instance, I realized that I could do things without doubt myself. However, I realized that I achieve my goals without quitting. I went to North Carolina as a picky eater. I really hated trying new foods. While on my course my eating habits have changed.

It also changed phobia of heights, but did not change my phobia of insects. As my phobia of insects grew, I freaked out even more on my course. As my team tried their best to help me, I still was not over my phobia. I appreciate all the help and advice my two instructors, Kate and Dana have given me. I appreciate the opportunity the North Carolina Outward Bound School has given me to join them this summer. My summer of 2006 will never be forgotten, thanks to Outward Bound. Anyone who asks me about North Carolina Outward Bound, I will encourage them to go and experience the same thing I experienced in life. Outward Bound has changed me in different ways that I can not even imagine. this experience has proved me wrong in so many ways.

Sincerely,

Amanda L. Gonzalez
