Dear Mr. and Mrs Svitek,

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to try something new and memorable. Secondly, I would like to share with you my adventures from the trip as well as how much I was motivated by it. I never thought I would have the chance to experience something so hard; nevertheless, inspiring. Having been selected to go on this trip has enabled me to broaden my views of seeing the world.

Going to Outward Bound was very special to me because I have always dreamed about going on a camping trip. During the course of the trip, I was given the opportunity to do some things that I have never done before as well as learn new things. For instance, for the first time in my life I had the chance to go canoeing. This was especially fun for me because we were allowed to go swimming. I was also given a chance to learn how to rock climb. I enjoyed doing this because every time I reached the very top of the rock, I could see a perfect view of the clear, beautiful sky.

Although the hardest part of the trip was doing my solo, it was the most inspiring. When I was given my supplies to build a tent, which consisted of three ropes and a tarp, I was a little confused. I was not sure if I was going to be able to build my tent. Fortunately, by the end of the night I used my instincts and came up with a way to build my tent in less than fifteen minutes.

Another difficult part of the trip was climbing the mountains at night. It was very hard at times to climb in the heavy rain. During our first trip up the mountain I was very confused about my directions; however, by the end of the trip and with the help of some counselors and friends I was able to find my way up the mountain easily.

I would like to thank you again for the scholarship and the chance you have given me to see and do new things that I will never forget.

Thanks you,

Roberto Colon
