On October 1, 2005, Kate's cousin Susie had her
Bat Mitzvah. As a project for her Bat Mitzvah, she
decided to produce and sell bracelets for Kate's
Foundation. The bracelet's cost three dollars and
can be ordered through Kate's web site. The bracelet's
help promote awareness for the Foundation.
During her speech at her Bat Mitzvah Susie said,"
For my Bat Mitzvah project I am selling bracelets
to raise money for my cousin Kate's memorial foundation.
I am doing this because on February 9, 2002, when
Kate was only 22, she died in a horrible snowboarding
accident. I would like to raise money to help the
Kate Svitek Foundation. All the money will go to
letting children experience the outdoors. Kate loved
nature. The foundation to me is keeping Kate's spirit
alive in all of us by letting kids that might not
ever see the outdoors, see the outdoors and appreciate
it like she did."
